Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients of all ages quickly and accurately in a busy emergency setting
• Stabilize and provide critical interventions for trauma and acute presentations
• Administer medications, treatments, and urgent interventions following established protocols
• Collaborate closely with EMTs, paramedics, nursing assistants, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver seamless care
• Document patient care and clinical findings in EPIC thoroughly and promptly
• Provide compassionate patient and family education during high-stress moments
• Participate in orientation training and demonstrate skills competence (pass/fail orientation exam with required passing standard)
• Adhere to facility policies and safety standards, including infection control and fingernail/artificial nail policies

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (Emergency Department experience preferred)
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC certifications
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and rotating weekend/holiday coverage
• Valid driver’s license at time of submission (radius rule applies)
• Ability to pass required orientation competencies and open-book skills exam (90% passing standard)
• Must not be currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity)

Education

• Active RN license required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing assessment and triage skills for pediatric and adult patients
• Experience working alongside EMTs, paramedics, and patient care aides
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• Ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients in a fast-paced acute care environment
• Effective communication, teamwork, and clinical judgment under pressure
• Familiarity with trauma level II protocols and acute care workflows
