Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage progressive care patients with focused, attentive bedside care
- Perform continuous telemetry/monitoring and rapidly identify changes in patient status
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately following protocols
- Conduct stroke assessments (NIHSS) and participate in time-sensitive interventions when needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute patient-centered plans
- Maintain thorough, timely documentation in the electronic health record
- Demonstrate and maintain competency through Trinity Specialty Specific testing and checklists
- Respond effectively to emergencies and assist with transfers to higher levels of care when required
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state license required prior to start)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification or demonstrated competency in stroke assessment
- Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
- Ability to pass license/certification verification and required pre-employment health screening (vaccines, drug screen, TB testing, etc.)
- Experience in PCU/progressive care or telemetry preferred; comfort working night shift
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry and progressive care monitoring skills
- Proficiency with acute care assessments and early recognition of clinical deterioration
- Familiarity with stroke protocols and NIHSS scoring
- Excellent clinical documentation and critical thinking skills
- Team-oriented communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
- Comfort with unit-specific competency testing and adherence to safety protocols
