Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess communication and swallowing function using evidence-based tools
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that help patients regain independence
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and physicians to optimize rehabilitation outcomes
- Document progress, goals, and discharge planning clearly and timely in the medical record
- Provide family and caregiver education to support carryover and safety at home
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute clinical insight
Qualifications
- Active state SLP license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
- ASHA CCC-SLP strongly preferred or eligible
- Experience with evaluation and treatment of adult/geriatric populations and dysphagia preferred
- Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records
- Current BLS/CPR certification as required by facility or able to obtain
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in bedside swallowing evaluations and dysphagia management strategies
- Proficient in expressive/receptive language and cognitive-communication assessment
- Ability to create measurable goals and track functional outcomes
- Excellent communication and team-based collaboration skills
- Time management and caseload prioritization in a fast-paced rehab/nursing environment
