Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor neuro stepdown patients with precision and compassion
• Administer treatments and medications according to established neuro protocols
• Use NIHSS to evaluate and document neurologic status accurately
• Document care thoroughly in EPIC to ensure seamless communication across the team
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Recognize and escalate changes in patient condition promptly and effectively
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to a positive, safety-focused unit culture

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Nursys verification required) and up-to-date certification cards
• NIHSS must be included in CV packet to be considered
• Minimum 2 years of experience in neuro specialty (neuro stepdown experience required)
• EPIC experience required — please note it on your profile
• ACLS certification required
• Strong med/surg background considered if paired with NIHSS and stepdown experience
• Complete candidate packet: resume with no gaps >60 days, skills checklist, references, certification card, and a badge-appropriate photo

Knowledge & Skills

• Neuro nursing and neuro stepdown patient management
• NIHSS neurologic assessment skills
• Proficiency with EPIC for documentation and orders
• ACLS knowledge and emergency response skills
• Medical-surgical nursing fundamentals to support diverse patient needs
• Strong clinical judgment, assessment, and communication skills
