Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and provide evidence-based treatment for speech, language, cognition and swallowing disorders
• Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable goals tailored to each patient
• Collaborate closely with PT, OT, nursing and case management to coordinate holistic care
• Document progress clearly and timely in the patient's chart and communicate outcomes with the team
• Educate patients and families on therapy strategies, home programs and safe swallowing techniques
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure a smooth, safe transition back to the community

Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible for state Speech-Language Pathology licensure
• Certificant of clinical competence (ASHA CCC-SLP) preferred where applicable
• Experience in inpatient rehabilitation or related settings is a strong plus
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills and comfort with interdisciplinary collaboration

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent graduate degree)

Knowledge & Skills

• Evaluation and treatment of dysphagia and safe-swallowing techniques
• Cognitive-communication assessment and therapy strategies
• Proficient clinical documentation and goal-writing
• Ability to lead and participate in interdisciplinary team rounds
• Skilled in patient and family education and training
• Familiarity with rehab-focused therapy approaches and discharge planning
