Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose and provide evidence-based treatment for speech, language, cognition and swallowing disorders
- Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable goals tailored to each patient
- Collaborate closely with PT, OT, nursing and case management to coordinate holistic care
- Document progress clearly and timely in the patient's chart and communicate outcomes with the team
- Educate patients and families on therapy strategies, home programs and safe swallowing techniques
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure a smooth, safe transition back to the community
Qualifications
- Licensed or eligible for state Speech-Language Pathology licensure
- Certificant of clinical competence (ASHA CCC-SLP) preferred where applicable
- Experience in inpatient rehabilitation or related settings is a strong plus
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills and comfort with interdisciplinary collaboration
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent graduate degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Evaluation and treatment of dysphagia and safe-swallowing techniques
- Cognitive-communication assessment and therapy strategies
- Proficient clinical documentation and goal-writing
- Ability to lead and participate in interdisciplinary team rounds
- Skilled in patient and family education and training
- Familiarity with rehab-focused therapy approaches and discharge planning
