Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and stabilize patients arriving to the emergency department with speed, skill, and compassion
• Deliver evidence-based emergency care using ACLS, PALS, TNCC and NIHSS protocols
• Perform timely stroke assessments (NIHSS) and escalate care when indicated
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to keep patient flow efficient and safe
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and thoroughly
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain high standards of care
• Support and mentor colleagues to foster a strong, resilient team

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Iowa (license verification required)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required or willingness to obtain promptly
• Completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and Trinity skills checklist
• Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings per employer policy (fit test, 10-panel drug screen, Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, COVID-19 vaccine)
• Comfort and experience working night shifts and holiday/weekend rotations
• Emergency nursing experience is a plus and will help you hit the ground running

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency assessment, triage, and stabilization techniques
• Advanced cardiac life support and pediatric life support protocols
• Stroke recognition and NIHSS assessment
• Trauma assessment principles consistent with TNCC
• Strong critical thinking, multitasking, and clear communication under pressure
• Familiarity with specialty competency testing and electronic medical records
