Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care to PCU patients, monitoring condition changes and intervening promptly
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, following policy and safety protocols
• Perform thorough assessments including telemetry and stroke screening using NIHSS when indicated
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers and interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute patient-centered plans
• Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions and follow-up needs
• Complete clear, timely documentation and competency testing per Trinity requirements
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement efforts and maintain required certifications

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) status with required license/certificate verification
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing
• Ability to pass Trinity 10 panel drug screen, fit test, and required immunizations/health screenings

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry and progressive care (PCU) monitoring skills
• Proficiency with stroke assessment and NIHSS scoring
• Medication administration and IV/infusion experience
• Solid clinical judgment, critical thinking and rapid decision-making
• Effective communication with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation practices
