Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality adult and pediatric transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, including 2-D and 3-D imaging
• Conduct Doppler studies (color, continuous wave, pulsed wave) and bubble studies with contrast as appropriate
• Accurately document exams and maintain clear charting in the required electronic systems
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support diagnosis and care plans
• Ensure equipment is set up, calibrated, and maintained for safe, accurate imaging
• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate patient care and clear communication with families
• Respond to on-call requests for urgent studies during night and weekend rotations
• Participate in quality assurance activities and continuous improvement for echo services

Qualifications

• Certified in Adult and Pediatric Echocardiography (required)
• Minimum of 1 year of echocardiography experience
• BLS certification (or ability to obtain) and other certifications such as ARDMS, RDCS, CCI, or CCI RCS preferred
• Comfortable performing TEE, bubble studies, and imaging with contrast
• Experience with charting systems and electronic medical records (charting system use required)
• Ability to work in pediatric acute care, ICU, and emergency settings
• Vascular certification is a plus but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with 2-D and 3-D echo imaging techniques
• Skilled in Color Doppler, Continuous Wave, and Pulsed Wave Doppler
• Experience with Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) and bubble/contrast studies
• Familiarity with major ultrasound platforms such as GE, Philips, Siemens, Hitachi, SonoSite, and Toshiba
• Comfortable using PACS and other imaging/charting systems
• Knowledge of common pediatric cardiac anomalies and the ability to adapt imaging techniques for pediatric anatomy
• Strong communication skills for family-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration
