Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled therapeutic interventions and assist patients with rehabilitation plans
• Deliver hands-on treatment, therapeutic exercise, and functional training under PT direction
• Monitor patient progress, document outcomes, and communicate changes to the care team
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safety techniques
• Collaborate with PTs, nursing, and interdisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Contribute to a positive, patient-centered environment that promotes recovery and independence

Qualifications

• Current or eligible for Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) licensure in Virginia
• Graduate of an accredited PTA program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Strong clinical reasoning and hands-on treatment skills in a rehabilitation setting
• Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
• Reliable, professional, and committed to patient-centered care

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training, and functional mobility interventions
• Proficient with patient assessment, progress documentation, and care planning
• Knowledge of safety protocols, infection control, and patient handling techniques
• Strong interpersonal skills for educating patients and collaborating with staff
• Comfortable using electronic health record systems for treatment notes and scheduling
