Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily living assistance to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Assist nursing staff with safe transfers and mobility support to promote independence
• Monitor and record vital signs and basic observations, reporting changes promptly to the nursing team
• Document resident care activities accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
• Support residents during mealtimes and help with feeding when needed, ensuring dignity and respect
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection-control and safety protocols
• Build meaningful relationships with residents and families to deliver person-centered care
• Participate in team huddles and contribute to a positive, collaborative care culture

Qualifications

• Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (Maryland) or equivalent
• CPR/BLS certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Comfortable working overnight hours and providing hands-on resident care
• Able to pass background checks and any facility-required screenings
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and patience when working with older adults
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic resident care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safe resident handling
• Good documentation skills and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a care team
• Physical stamina for mobility assistance and prolonged standing during shifts
