Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts — Days: 06:30 AM - 06:30 PM; Nights: 06:30 PM - 06:30 AM; Every other weekend required; Minimum of 2 holidays during the 13-week contract (rotating day/night coverage)

Candidate Pay Rate: $65 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care in a PCU/stepdown setting, prioritizing safety and comfort
- Monitor telemetry and read/interpret EKG strips to detect and respond to arrhythmias
- Manage arterial lines and titrate drips (heparin, nitro, dopamine, diltiazem, amiodarone, insulin) per unit protocols
- Troubleshoot and assist with high flow oxygen therapy and coordinate respiratory needs with RT
- Document thoroughly and timely in EPIC to support continuity of care and clinical decision-making
- Collaborate with charge nurses, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Use patient-centered communication and cultural competency when caring for diverse populations
- Participate in unit initiatives to improve patient experience and operational responsiveness
Qualifications
- Active RN license (Nebraska or Compact RN license acceptable) required at time of submittal
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience — PCU/stepdown, med-surg, or ICU experience preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (current and valid)
- Demonstrated competence with arterial lines and drip titration
- Comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry strips independently
- Valid driver’s license required at submittal to confirm radius eligibility
- Willingness to complete orientation pass/fail exam (open book) and achieve minimum passing score
- Not currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and Dignity)
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in EPIC charting and electronic documentation workflows
- Strong telemetry/EKG interpretation skills and cardiac monitoring knowledge
- Experience with titratable infusions and medication safety principles
- Familiarity with high flow oxygen therapy and basic ventilatory troubleshooting
- Comfortable using lifts, bladder scanners, and vein finders as part of bedside care
- Ability to prioritize, triage, and function in a fast-paced stepdown environment
- Cultural competency working with Hispanic and Somalian patient populations
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability when floated to med-surg or ICU
