Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct nursing care to residents, focusing on safety and dignity
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and per facility policy
- Monitor, assess, and document changes in patient condition in the medical record
- Collaborate closely with RN staff, CNAs, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Educate residents and families on care plans, medications, and follow-up needs
- Maintain infection control standards and support a clean, safe environment
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New Mexico (required)
- Completion of an accredited practical nursing (LPN) program
- BLS/CPR certification (required) and willingness to obtain other facility-required certifications
- Prior LPN experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or related setting preferred
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required by the facility
Education
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing (LPN) program; high school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication administration and documentation best practices
- Skilled in wound care, dressing changes, and basic treatments
- Comfortable performing patient assessments and recording vital signs
- Proficient with electronic health records and clear clinical documentation
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
- Knowledge of infection control and regulatory compliance in long-term care
