Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility to promote independence and prevent falls
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to the nurse or supervisor
• Support meal setup and feeding assistance, ensuring dignity and comfort during meals
• Document care accurately and timely in resident records to maintain continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols to protect residents and staff
• Engage residents socially and emotionally to promote quality of life and meaningful connections

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification (T-CNA or P-CNA) — active and in good standing; ability to obtain Maine certification if required
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Proven ability to provide compassionate care in long-term care, skilled nursing, or assisted living settings preferred
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings/immunizations
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively on a team
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible to meet the needs of residents and the facility schedule

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved CNA training program and current CNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and safe patient handling techniques
• Basic clinical skills such as taking vital signs and observing/reporting changes
• Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
• Good documentation skills and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills and empathy when interacting with residents and families
• Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks during a busy shift
