Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized instruction and interventions for K-5 students with special needs
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and progress reports
• Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and supports
• Use data to inform instruction and adjust interventions for student growth
• Communicate regularly with families and caregivers to build partnerships
• Provide a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes social and academic success
• Participate in team meetings, evaluations, and school-wide initiatives

Qualifications

• Valid teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement, or eligibility to obtain one in Washington
• Experience working with elementary-age students (K-5) in a resource setting preferred
• Knowledge of developing and implementing IEPs and progress monitoring
• Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families
• Clear background check and any district-required certifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of special education law, IEP processes, and accommodations
• Assessment and progress monitoring tools for elementary learners
• Differentiated instruction and small-group intervention strategies
• Classroom behavior supports and positive behavior interventions
• Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
• Familiarity with elementary curriculum standards and resource teaching
