Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized instruction and interventions for K-5 students with special needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and progress reports
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and supports
- Use data to inform instruction and adjust interventions for student growth
- Communicate regularly with families and caregivers to build partnerships
- Provide a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes social and academic success
- Participate in team meetings, evaluations, and school-wide initiatives
Qualifications
- Valid teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement, or eligibility to obtain one in Washington
- Experience working with elementary-age students (K-5) in a resource setting preferred
- Knowledge of developing and implementing IEPs and progress monitoring
- Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families
- Clear background check and any district-required certifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of special education law, IEP processes, and accommodations
- Assessment and progress monitoring tools for elementary learners
- Differentiated instruction and small-group intervention strategies
- Classroom behavior supports and positive behavior interventions
- Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with elementary curriculum standards and resource teaching
