Roles & Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that prioritize functional skills and independence
• Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in an elementary self-contained classroom
• Monitor, document, and report student progress to families and the multidisciplinary team
• Create practical routines and supports that enable students to succeed across settings
• Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and administrators to meet caseload needs
• Maintain classroom management and positive behavior supports that foster a safe learning environment

Qualifications

• Experience working in Special Education and elementary self-contained settings (Functional Skills focus)
• Comfort managing a caseload and coordinating with families and support staff
• Valid teaching certification in Special Education preferred (state certification or eligibility)
• Strong classroom management and IEP development experience
• Clearances and district-mandated background checks as required

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep understanding of functional life skills instruction and individualized supports
• Proficiency with IEP development, progress monitoring, and documentation
• Behavior intervention strategies and positive behavior supports
• Ability to collaborate with paraeducators and multidisciplinary teams
• Strong communication skills for family engagement and team coordination
• Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptations for diverse learners
