Candidate Pay Rate: $67 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care: monitor patients, manage airways, and support recovery from anesthesia
- Assess and manage pain effectively using best-practice approaches and multimodal strategies
- Perform pre-op assessments and provide clear pre/post-op education and discharge instructions
- Initiate and maintain IV therapy and cardiac monitoring with timely recognition of dysrhythmias
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe transitions of care
- Follow Malignant Hyperthermia Protocols and respond to perioperative emergencies with calm and competence
- Support Phase I/Phase II recovery and float to pre-op and extended care units when needed
Qualifications
- Current CA RN License required
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years adult PACU experience in inpatient or outpatient settings
- Comfortable with airway management, anesthesia recovery, and pain management
- Willing and able to float to other UCSF campus locations as needed
- COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Preferred: CCRN or CPAN certification and 2 years adult critical care experience
Knowledge & Skills
- PACU nursing and post-op care best practices
- Airway assessment and management
- Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) and conscious sedation familiarity
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, and medication administration (including narcotics and reversal agents)
- Pain assessment & management and RASS (Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale)
- Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol and perioperative emergency response
- Pre-op assessment, education, and effective discharge planning
