Shift Type: Rotating shifts (times negotiable): options include three 12-hour shifts, four 10-hour shifts, or five 8-hour shifts; 36-40 hours/week; approximately every 5th weekend on-call (split between Call 1 and Call 2) with 1-2 calls per week; all call requires a 30-minute on-site response time; possible holiday call rotation

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and sterile field to support safe, efficient procedures
• Assist surgeons during general, vascular, orthopedic and neurosurgical cases with confidence and precision
• Manage and account for instrumentation and supplies, including central processing awareness
• Maintain strict sterile technique and enforce infection control best practices
• Respond promptly to call assignments and arrive on site within the required 30-minute window
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to anticipate needs and improve patient outcomes
• Document case details accurately and communicate handoffs clearly
• Adapt to changing case volume and staffing needs with professionalism and calm

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• CST certification preferred (but not mandatory)
• Proven, current OR experience across a broad mix of specialties — orthopedic, neurosurgery, vascular and general cases (candidates lacking full breadth of experience will not be considered)
• Willingness to work 36–40 hours/week in a combination of 12-, 10- or 8-hour shifts
• Ability to participate in on-call rotation (approx. every 5th weekend) and meet a 30-minute on-site response time
• Reliable attendance and minimal RTO preferred — candidates with minimal RTO will receive priority consideration

Education

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile technique and operating room procedures
• Strong instrumentation management and central processing knowledge
• Hands-on experience with orthopedic, neuro and vascular surgical instrumentation
• Excellent critical thinking and ability to anticipate surgeon and team needs
• Comfort handling call duties and fast-paced OR demands
• Professional communication and teamwork skills in perioperative settings
