Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled speech-language pathology evaluations and individualized treatment plans for geriatric patients
- Deliver evidence-based therapy for communication and swallowing disorders to improve patient outcomes
- Document patient progress accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians and family members to coordinate holistic care
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to maximize communication and safety at home
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, state regulations and professional standards
Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (required)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or in progress
- Experience working with geriatric or rehabilitation populations preferred
- Strong clinical skills in dysphagia management, cognitive-communication or related areas
- Current BLS/CPR certification as required by facility
- Ability to work a travel contract and collaborate with on-site teams
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment and treatment of swallowing and communication disorders
- Familiarity with AAC strategies and adaptive communication techniques
- Proficient clinical documentation and charting in electronic medical records
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team-based care
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time effectively
- Understanding of rehab therapy goals, discharge planning and payer considerations
