Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage and stabilize patients arriving to the emergency department with speed and compassion
• Administer medications, monitor patient responses, and manage basic pharmacology safely
• Interpret cardiac rhythms quickly and accurately to support timely interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, techs and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Document thorough patient assessments, interventions and handoffs in the medical record
• Participate in emergency resuscitations and critical care procedures as needed
• Complete required competency checklists, specialty exams and ongoing skills validation

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana licensure required or ability to obtain)
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
• NIHSS certification and proficiency in stroke assessment
• DCI/BVP credentialing as listed in the order
• Successful license/certificate verification and completion of required facility onboarding
• Up-to-date health screenings and immunizations (COVID-19, TB, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, fit test, etc.)

Education

• Active RN license required
• Formal nursing education (ADN/BSN) as applicable for RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing best practices and triage processes
• Rhythm interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• Basic pharmacology for ED medication administration
• Familiarity with NIHSS stroke scale and acute stroke pathways
• Competency with ED workflows, documentation and rapid patient assessment
• Ability to perform under pressure and communicate clearly in emergencies
