Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist clinicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and vascular procedures with confidence and precision
- Prepare and position patients and select appropriate anatomic and technical imaging parameters
- Prepare, administer, and document contrast media and medications within scope and regulations
- Monitor patients throughout procedures, promptly report abnormal findings, and assist with patient stabilization
- Perform specialized imaging procedures including angiography, complex vascular, and nonvascular interventional studies
- Follow and promote radiation safety practices to protect patients and staff
- Collaborate with Radiologists, PAs, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize protocols and recommend refinements
- Maintain accurate documentation, complete required competency exams and checklist items, and ensure regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- ARRT Radiologic Technologist credential (ARRT) required prior to hire or transfer
- Cardiographic Tech credential from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required prior to hire or transfer
- Radiology Tech licensure issued by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency required in combination with ARRT (as stated in job requirements)
- BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required
- ACLS preferred
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred
- License and certificate verification required prior to start
- Completion of required competency testing: Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam
Education
- High school diploma or equivalency with 1-2 years of relevant cumulative experience, OR
- Associate's degree or technical degree in relevant field, OR
- Four years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven skills in imaging procedures including radiography and interventional imaging
- Contrast media preparation and safe administration practices
- Strong radiation safety knowledge and adherence to guidelines
- Patient positioning, monitoring, and peri-procedural care
- Experience assisting Radiologist/PA during complex vascular and nonvascular procedures
- Ability to document accurately and follow regulatory and facility protocols
- Medication administration within applicable scope of practice
