Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile instrument sets and supplies for surgical procedures
• Assist surgeons by anticipating instrument needs and passing instruments accurately
• Ensure strict adherence to sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Perform sharp and instrument counts, documenting per policy to ensure patient safety
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to optimize workflow and patient outcomes
• Participate in pre-op setup and post-op breakdown to keep the OR running smoothly
• Complete required Prime competency exams and skills checklists as part of credentialing

Qualifications

• Active licensure/certification as a Surgical Technologist or Scrub Tech (License/Certificate verification required)
• BLS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Willingness to accept on-call and call back shifts as part of this traveler assignment
• Successful completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam as required
• Able to pass required health screenings: drug screen, TB testing, immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza) and fit testing

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of operating room instruments, sterile processing, and surgical procedures
• Strong attention to detail for count procedures and sterility maintenance
• Effective communication and teamwork skills in high-pressure environments
• Ability to follow protocols for infection control and patient safety
• Comfortable with rapid setup and turnover of OR rooms
