Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Med-Surg nursing care during night shifts, monitoring patient condition and responding to changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following facility protocols and Prime Basic Pharmacology competency
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document care accurately in the patient record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and safe handoffs
• Respond to emergency situations calmly and effectively, using ACLS and BLS skills when needed
• Support patient and family education, promoting recovery and discharge readiness
• Complete required competency and specialty exams to maintain clinical readiness and compliance

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license with verification via Nursys (Michigan licensure required or eligible)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• DCI/BVP credentialing as noted by the facility
• Med-Surg clinical experience preferred; comfortable managing multiple patients on night shift
• Successful completion of required Prime exams and skills checklist prior to assignment
• Ability to pass a minimum 10-panel drug screen, fit test, and required immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap, TB testing or equivalent)
• Current, verifiable health clearance and physical/health statement

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid Med-Surg nursing assessment and clinical judgment
• Medication administration and basic pharmacology knowledge
• IV therapy and common inpatient procedures
• Strong documentation skills and comfort with electronic health records
• Critical thinking and prioritization during busy night shifts
• Effective communication and teamwork with nurses, providers, and support staff
• Ability to follow facility policies, safety protocols, and competency checklists
• Patient-centered care and compassionate bedside manner
