Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures with focus and precision
- Prepare the cath lab, sterilize instruments, and ensure equipment readiness before each case
- Operate and troubleshoot cath lab equipment under established protocols
- Monitor patients’ hemodynamic status and notify the team of any changes
- Maintain accurate procedural documentation and electronic records
- Adhere to strict sterile technique and infection-control practices
- Participate in competency exams and skills checklists to maintain high standards
- Support team-based quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Current BLS certification (required)
- DCI/BVP certification (required)
- License/Certificate Verification completed prior to start
- Successful completion of required competency testing (Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist, Prime Specialty Exam)
- Required pre-employment screenings and immunizations (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB test/PPD, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, Tdap, drug screen, fit test, color-blind test, physical/health statement)
- Comfort working in a fast-paced procedural environment and following physician directions
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Cath Lab Tech or allied health program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with cath lab instrumentation and sterile processing
- Understanding of cardiac catheterization procedures and hemodynamic monitoring
- Ability to assist with fluoroscopy and imaging workflows
- Strong patient-assessment and monitoring skills
- Clear communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
- Attention to detail for documentation, inventory, and safety checks
