Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist providers during endoscopic procedures with calm efficiency and patient-centered focus
• Prepare and maintain the GI procedure room, ensuring equipment is clean, set-up, and functioning
• Monitor and document patient vitals and status pre-, intra-, and post-procedure
• Maintain strict infection control and sterile technique to protect patients and staff
• Process, label, and handle specimens accurately to support diagnostic follow-up
• Complete required competency exams and skills checklists to demonstrate and maintain proficiency
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and support staff to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient care
• Perform timely and accurate documentation in the medical record to support continuity of care

Qualifications

• Experience working in a GI setting (required)
• Current BLS certification
• DCI/BVP certification
• License/certificate verification as required by facility
• Willingness to work per diem night shifts
• Able to complete required health screenings and immunizations (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB testing, influenza, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap)
• Successful completion of required background checks and drug screening

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with endoscopy instruments, scopes, and procedure room setup
• Strong understanding of infection control and sterile processing
• Ability to monitor and document patient vitals and communicate changes promptly
• Proficient in specimen handling and accurate labeling
• Comfortable with competency exams, skills checklists, and specialty testing
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
