Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately and safely during night shifts
- Verify prescriptions, dosages, and patient information with attention to detail
- Perform controlled substance counts and document any discrepancies
- Assist pharmacists with inventory management, compounding, and unit-dose packaging
- Maintain accurate medication records and complete required documentation
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and hospital policy at all times
- Participate in Prime competency exams, specialty exams, and skills checklists
- Complete required health screenings and immunizations before starting assignments
Qualifications
- Active Pharmacy Technician license/certification as required by California (License/Certificate Verification required)
- BLS certification
- DCI/BVP credential as listed in the job requirements
- Successful completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam (or willingness to complete)
- Ability to pass drug screening (minimum 10-panel) and fit test
- Current immunizations and health screenings as listed (COVID-19, MMR, TB, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap, etc.)
- Availability for per diem night shifts and dependable attendance
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or relevant certification preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of medication dispensing workflows and safety practices
- Familiarity with Prime competency platforms and pharmacy skills checklists
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume settings
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with electronic medication records
