Roles & Responsibilities
- Process, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays with precision
- Maintain strict adherence to sterilization protocols and infection control best practices
- Perform and document quality assurance checks, including Prime Core Competencies and specialty exam requirements
- Coordinate with perioperative teams to ensure instruments are ready and available when needed
- Maintain accurate records for sterilization cycles, inventory, and equipment maintenance
- Participate in routine fit testing, drug screening, and required health screenings to meet facility standards
- Identify and report equipment issues or breaches in protocol to protect patients and staff
Qualifications
- BLS certification (required)
- DCI/BVP certification (required)
- License/Certificate Verification completed and on file
- Completion of required Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam
- Compliance with all listed health requirements (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB testing, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Varicella, influenza as required)
- Reliable attention to detail and ability to follow strict sterilization protocols
- Ability to work per diem daytime shifts and adapt to variable schedules
Knowledge & Skills
- Sterile processing and instrument sterilization best practices
- Familiarity with decontamination, assembly, and sterilization equipment and cycles
- Strong documentation and inventory management skills
- Understanding of infection prevention standards and regulatory compliance
- Good communication and team coordination skills with perioperative staff
- Comfort with competency testing and ongoing skills validation
