Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Ortho-Neuro and telemetry nursing care for a 30-bed unit
• Perform focused neurological assessments and use NIHSS for stroke evaluation
• Monitor and interpret EKG/telemetry strips and respond to rhythm changes
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
• Deliver compassionate patient- and family-centered education and support
• Maintain required certifications and complete Prime competency testing and skills checklists
• Adhere to infection control and workplace health requirements (vaccines, TB testing, fit testing)

Qualifications

• Active RN license with Nursys verification
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification listed as required
• Demonstrated telemetry and EKG experience
• EPIC experience is a must
• Experience working on Ortho-Neuro or telemetry floors preferred
• Willingness to work nights, every other weekend, and holiday coverage
• Ability to pass required health screenings and drug testing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry and EKG rhythm recognition skills
• Proficiency with EPIC for nursing documentation and orders
• Solid knowledge of Ortho and Neuro post-op care and clinical priorities
• Skilled in neurological assessments and stroke scale application (NIHSS)
• Excellent communication and customer-service-oriented bedside manner
• Critical thinking, prioritization, and fast decision-making on night shift
• Comfort working in a fast-paced 30-bed unit with 1:5–1:6 staffing ratios
