Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs
• Maintain a strict sterile field and enforce aseptic technique throughout procedures
• Perform instrument and sponge counts accurately and document counts as required
• Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions promptly
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia staff to optimize patient safety
• Complete required documentation and competency checklists in a timely manner

Qualifications

• Active OR Technician or Surgical Technologist credentials (per facility requirements)
• BLS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Successful License/Certificate Verification on file
• Ability to pass required health screenings: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB testing, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, influenza
• Successful completion of drug screening (minimum 10-panel) and fit testing
• Willingness to complete Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Proficiency with surgical instruments and instrument handling
• Understanding of infection control practices and patient safety standards
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and prioritize during procedures
• Good communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced OR environment
