Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields and surgical instrument sets with precision
• Anticipate surgeons' needs and efficiently pass instruments and supplies
• Perform instrument and sponge counts to ensure patient safety
• Assist in room turnover and ensure OR readiness between cases
• Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and infection control protocols
• Document procedures and equipment usage accurately and professionally
• Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, and surgical teams to support excellent patient care

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification
• Completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam as required
• License and certificate verification completed and up to date
• Compliance with required health screenings and vaccinations: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, TB test/PPD with negative chest x-ray, Varicella, Tdap, and a physical/health statement
• Fit test and minimum 10-panel drug screening completed
• Strong familiarity with OR protocols and sterile technique

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven knowledge of sterile processing and instrument handling
• Comfortable with OR workflow, surgical terminology, and case setup
• Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced surgical environments
• Attention to detail for counts, documentation, and infection control
• Ability to prioritize and anticipate needs during procedures
