Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and surgical instruments with precision
• Pass instruments and supplies efficiently to support surgical teams
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs to keep procedures running smoothly
• Perform instrument and sponge counts accurately and document results
• Assist with patient positioning and transport in a safe, patient-centered way
• Adhere to infection control policies and sterile technique at all times
• Verify and maintain equipment readiness, including DCI/BVP checks
• Communicate clearly with the team during high-pressure scenarios to ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• BLS certification required
• DCI/BVP required
• License/Certificate Verification required prior to start
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent OR experience preferred
• Per diem OR experience preferred, especially in night shift coverage
• Current immunizations and health screenings as listed (COVID-19, MMR, TB, Hep B, Tdap, Varicella, Influenza)
• Successful completion of required checks: Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, Prime Specialty Exam

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and OR protocols
• Familiarity with surgical instruments and surgical procedures
• Ability to perform accurate counts and documentation
• Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced surgical settings
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
• Comfort with fit testing and other safety procedures
