Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert med/surg step-down nursing care, monitoring patients transitioning from higher-acuity settings
- Manage cardiac telemetry and continuously interpret rhythm strips to keep patients safe
- Administer IV medication including Cardizem and heparin drips with precision and confidence
- Perform thorough assessments and document clearly to support multidisciplinary care plans
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and the care team to optimize patient outcomes
- Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and assist in emergency interventions when needed
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans with compassion
- Complete required competency testing and skills validation to meet unit standards
Qualifications
- Active RN license with Nursys verification (state licensure required)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications as listed by the facility
- Comfortable and experienced with telemetry monitoring
- Experience administering IV medications and drips (Cardizem, heparin) in a step-down or med/surg environment
- Successful completion of required pre-employment screenings (drug screen, TB, immunizations) and facility competencies
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and cardiac monitoring best practices
- IV medication administration and drip titration
- Med/Surg step-down patient assessment and care planning
- Rhythm interpretation and basic dysrhythmia management
- Familiarity with Prime competency exams and clinical skills validation
- Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills
