Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients, prioritizing safety and dignity
- Assess patients using evidence-based tools and communicate changes promptly to the care team
- Administer medications and treatments accurately while monitoring for effects
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary colleagues to create and implement individualized care plans
- Document assessments, interventions and outcomes clearly and timely in the medical record
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and follow-up care
- Participate in unit initiatives to improve patient outcomes and enhance workflow
- Maintain infection control standards and support a culture of safety
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (California RN license preferred or eligible)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS training/certification and familiarity with stroke assessment
- DCI/BVP competency and Nursys license verification
- Completion of required facility onboarding: drug screen, TB test, immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B), fit test and physical/health statement
- Successful completion of Prime competency testing and skills checklists as required
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- BSN preferred when available
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Comfortable with acute care workflows and rapid decision-making
- Proficient in medication administration and basic/advanced cardiac life support protocols
- Experience with stroke scales (NIHSS) and related assessments
- Familiarity with electronic health records and clear clinical documentation
- Effective communication and teamwork in interdisciplinary settings
- Adherence to infection prevention and safety procedures
