Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care and routine nursing services to residents
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings clearly and promptly
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and follow individualized care plans
- Maintain strict adherence to correctional facility safety and security protocols
- Respond to emergencies calmly and effectively, escalating care when needed
- Educate patients and support their health needs while maintaining professional boundaries
- Keep accurate clinical records and communicate changes in patient status to supervisors
Qualifications
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Pennsylvania
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program or equivalent training
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or obtainable upon hire
- Comfortable and experienced working in a correctional or secure facility preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and comply with all facility security requirements
- Willingness to follow strict device and contraband policies (no cell phones or smart watches allowed on-site)
Education
- Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing (LPN) program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong medication administration and documentation skills
- Solid patient assessment and clinical judgment
- Familiarity with infection control and standard precautions
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary setting
- Ability to work within correctional facility policies and maintain safety
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize patient needs
