Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and communicate observations to nursing staff
- Help create a safe, respectful, and dignified environment for older adults
- Support mealtime, mobility, bathing, dressing, and toileting with patience and respect
- Document care provided accurately and timely to maintain continuity of care
- Build positive relationships with residents and families to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent state certification preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Prior experience in long-term care or working with older adults is a plus
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered approach
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required or in progress
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and infection control practices
- Ability to safely assist with transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
- Familiarity with documentation best practices and following care plans
- Empathy, patience, and strong observational skills
- Teamwork mindset and ability to follow direction from licensed nursing staff
