Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living to preserve dignity and comfort
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the clinical team promptly and clearly
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Document care interventions accurately and on time to keep resident records up to date
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful communication and empathy
• Participate in care team meetings and follow established care plans and facility protocols

Qualifications

• GNA certification required (Geriatric Nursing Assistant or equivalent credential)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by the facility
• Prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to handle physical demands of resident care and safe transfer techniques
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered attitude
• Ability to pass facility background checks and any state-required health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA / nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skill in assisting with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting
• Familiarity with infection control practices and documentation standards
• Good observational skills to notice subtle changes in residents’ status
• Teamwork and collaboration with nurses, therapists, and support staff
• Time management to prioritize resident needs during shift
