Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, helping them maintain dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility)
• Monitor and record vital signs and any changes in resident condition, reporting concerns promptly
• Document care accurately and timely to support the care team and care plans
• Support mealtime assistance and safe feeding practices for residents who need help
• Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team
• Follow infection control procedures and facility protocols to keep residents safe
• Participate in resident care meetings and contribute observations to care planning

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in good standing
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Prior experience working with older adults preferred; new grads with GNA certification welcome
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
• Strong communication skills, patience, and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related needs
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe patient transfers
• Competent in basic vital sign measurement and documentation
• Knowledge of infection prevention and standard precautions
• Good observational skills to notice changes in condition
• Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary care team
• Basic charting and record-keeping for shift handoff
