Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
• Support mobility and transfers safely, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Take and record vital signs, reporting any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Help maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents
• Follow individualized care plans and accurately document care and observations
• Communicate compassionately with residents and families to build trust and comfort
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support resident outcomes
• Adhere to infection control protocols and facility policies at all times

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — Maryland certification or eligibility
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Proof of required immunizations and negative TB test per facility policy
• Background check and drug screen clearance as required by the facility
• Previous experience in geriatric care or long-term care is a strong plus
• Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Ability to assist with ADLs and recognize changes in resident condition
• Basic clinical skills: vital signs, documentation, safe transfers
• Familiarity with infection control and patient safety procedures
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a care team
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
