Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team promptly
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care that preserves dignity and independence
- Support mealtime assistance and feeding when needed, ensuring nutrition and hydration
- Keep accurate documentation of care provided and communicate effectively with team members
- Help maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for residents
- Participate in care planning and follow individualized care plans to meet resident needs
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience working with geriatric or long-term care residents is a plus
- Must be able to pass background check and health screenings as required by facility
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Vaccinations up to date as required by facility policy
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing assistant skills and infection control practices
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling techniques
- Good documentation skills and attention to detail
- Ability to observe, report and escalate changes in resident condition
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team
