Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, supporting daily living activities
• Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding and mobility with dignity
• Monitor residents’ condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
• Support safe transfers and ambulation using proper body mechanics
• Document resident care accurately and timely in the facility record
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families, promoting comfort and respect
• Participate in care team huddles to ensure coordinated, person-centered care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric environments is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a caring bedside manner
• Ability to pass background checks and required facility onboarding

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; completion of an approved GNA program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-first caregiving
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Basic infection control and hygiene practices
• Accurate documentation and time management
• Teamwork and effective communication with interdisciplinary staff
• Sensitivity to cognitive impairment, dementia, and behavioral changes in older adults
