Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert cardiac and critical care to CCU patients, ensuring compassionate, high-quality bedside care
- Continuously monitor telemetry and hemodynamics; interpret data and act swiftly to changes
- Manage advanced devices and therapies such as IABP and Impella with confidence and safety
- Perform and support procedures common to the unit: central line and Swan-Ganz (PA) catheter insertion and management, and assist with intubations
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and execute individualized care plans
- Document care accurately in Meditech and maintain clear communication during handoffs
- Contribute to a positive patient experience and engaged unit culture through teamwork and professional behavior
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (state requirements apply)
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in cardiac care or critical care (explicitly required)
- ACLS required
- BLS required
- Proven experience with hemodynamic monitoring and PA (Swan-Ganz) catheter management
- Familiarity with IABP and Impella device care
- CRRT experience preferred
- Experience with central line management, intubation support, and telemetry monitoring
- Comfortable using Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
- Ability to float to other units as needed and work required weekend shifts
Education
- Nursing education (ADN/BSN) preferred; active RN license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac critical care best practices and cardiogenic shock management
- Telemetry interpretation and continuous monitoring
- Hemodynamic assessment and management
- Competence with advanced cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella)
- Swan-Ganz / PA catheter knowledge
- CRRT principles (preferred)
- Strong clinical judgment, situational awareness, and rapid decision-making
- Clear documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented CCU environment
