Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (3x12): Day 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (typically 3 days/week), Night 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (typically 3 nights/week); self-scheduled with weekend variability — orientation: Week 1 Mon-Fri days, Week 2 36 hours on-unit with preceptor

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage telemetry and PCU-level patients with attention to cardiac rhythms and early signs of deterioration
- Provide high-acuity nursing care including central/PICC/port management and blood product administration
- Operate and troubleshoot infusion devices such as Alaris and PCA pumps and follow heparin and insulin protocols
- Respond effectively as part of Rapid Response and Code teams when patients need urgent intervention
- Perform feeding tube and tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and respiratory support (HFNC, CPAP/BIPAP)
- Maintain meticulous documentation in Epic and communicate care plans clearly with the interdisciplinary team
- Adhere to infection prevention protocols and fall-prevention strategies to keep patients safe
- Teach and support patients and families through education, discharge planning, and compassionate care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential — agency RN experience noted in unit descriptions
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; high-acuity PCU/stepdown experience required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required (2 years oncology preferred)
- Certifications: BCLS/BLS, ACLS, and NIH/NIHSS required/preferred as listed
- Epic charting experience required
- Comfort and experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Willingness to float to units of equal or lower acuity; previous travel experience preferred
- Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- PCU/stepdown and med-surg telemetry patient management
- IV therapy, starting/maintaining IVs, PICC/central/peripheral/port care
- Blood product administration and central line management
- Infusion pump (Alaris, PCA) operation and troubleshooting
- Respiratory support skills: HFNC, CPAP/BIPAP, tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation
- Feeding tube care and management, wound care/Wound VAC familiarity
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac) and arterial line management
- Infection prevention practices and patient fall mitigation
- Phlebotomy, IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin/cardiac drips where applicable
