Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor telemetry patients, interpreting ECG strips and escalating changes promptly
• Administer and manage therapies including CPAP, BiPAP and high-flow oxygen safely and effectively
• Deliver acute med/surg care for patients with CHF, pneumonia, diabetes, CKD and other common diagnoses
• Collaborate with telemonitor techs, PCTs and the multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes
• Provide compassionate patient education and clear communication with families and providers
• Maintain accurate, timely charting in the unit’s electronic system and follow the VIC (virtual integrated care) model
• Float to med/surg units as needed while maintaining high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit) — Texas license required or eligible to obtain
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience (acute care/med-surg/telemetry experience preferred)
• Current BLS certification required
• Proven ability to read and interpret ECG strips and work with telemetry monitoring
• Comfortable managing CPAP, BiPAP and high-flow oxygen patients
• Strong communication skills and excellent time management
• Willingness to work manager-assigned schedules including every other weekend and holidays
• Able to float to other med/surg units as required

Education

• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG strip interpretation
• Med/Surg and acute care workflows and priorities
• VIC (virtual integrated care) model familiarity or adaptability to virtual workflows
• Experience collaborating with PCTs and telemonitor technicians
• Proficient with electronic charting systems (other computerized systems listed)
• Effective clinical communication, prioritization and time management

This is a short-term 13-week contract assignment in Lufkin — a great chance to explore East Texas.
