Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (typical 8-hour day shifts) with option for 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM); One weeknight per week on-call (end of shift through 7:00 AM the next morning); Three 24-hour weekend call days per month; Day/Night (rotating call responsibilities including overnight weekend coverage)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Scrub confidently for a wide range of cases — independently manage cranial procedures and high-acuity neuro-trauma cases
- Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, supplies, and the OR environment using proper scrub/sterile technique
- Assist surgical teams in orthopedic total joint and level II trauma procedures, including robotic-assisted cases
- Operate and support robotic systems (DaVinci, Mako) and navigation tools (Stealth, Scopis) as needed
- Document accurately in EPIC and support clear communication between surgical, anesthesia, and nursing teams
- Respond to on-call assignments within the required 15-minute response time and provide safe continuity of care
- Advocate for patient safety — speak up when something doesn’t feel right and follow unit policies (including fingernail policy)
- Participate in unit orientation and continuing competency activities to maintain high standards of care
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of OR/Surgical Tech experience (CST preferred)
- Ability to scrub and perform independent cranial procedures; competency in neuro-trauma call required (scores of 3s in neuro preferred)
- Orthopedic total joint and orthopedic trauma (level II trauma) experience required
- BLS certification required; Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred
- Comfortable with EPIC charting and basic electronic documentation
- Willingness to work weekends, weeknight call, and holiday call as scheduled
- Strong work ethic, effective communicator, and patient safety advocate
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Surgical Technologist certification (CST) preferred but not strictly required
- BLS certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Operating Room (OR) best practices and sterile technique
- Scrubbing/scrub technique for general, orthopedic, neuro, urology, and ENT cases
- Experience with robotic systems: DaVinci and Mako
- Familiarity with navigation systems like Stealth and Scopis
- EPIC charting and basic electronic medical record navigation
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with surgeons and anesthesia
- Call-taking competency with rapid response and sound clinical judgment
