Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with respect and dignity
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Monitor and report changes in residents' condition to the nursing team promptly
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents and families
• Document care and observations accurately and timely in resident records
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to maintain a clean, safe environment
• Collaborate with nurses and multidisciplinary staff to ensure individualized care plans are carried out

Qualifications

• Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) — required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required depending on facility policy
• Demonstrated experience working with older adults (clinical or volunteer experience welcomed)
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
• Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered approach
• Ability to perform physical tasks related to resident care (standing, lifting, assisting)

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA program or state-recognized training

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
• Competent in basic infection control practices and documentation
• Good observational skills to notice subtle changes in condition
• Team-oriented attitude and clear, respectful communication with residents and families
• Time management to balance caseload and prioritize resident needs
