Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality med-surg and telemetry nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on East Tower units including general surgery, trauma, vascular, wound, and plastics
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Initiate and maintain IV therapy, including IV starts, PICC and central line management, and blood draws
• Respond as an active member of rapid response and code teams when needed
• Manage post-op and specialty needs such as wound V.A.C., surgical drains, tracheostomy care, and CBI
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic to support continuity and safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (PT, RT, pharmacy, social work, etc.) to coordinate patient-centered plans
• Float across units of similar or lower acuity while maintaining safe patient ratios (estimated 1:4-5)

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry preferred)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Proficiency with IV therapy and IV starts
• Telemetry experience and strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Prior experience using Epic (mandatory)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg and Telemetry unit experience
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV therapy, central line blood draw, PICC care, and access/port management
• Blood product administration and PCA management
• Wound care including wound VACs and surgical drain management
• Tracheostomy care, CPAP/BiPAP, and non-invasive airway support
• Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) and pre/post hemodialysis care
• Familiarity with rapid response and code team processes
• Isolation precautions and infection control practices
• Comfort charting and coordinating care in Epic
