Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to oncology and post-surgical patients
• Administer treatments and monitor responses, including chemotherapy-related care when certified
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create and update individualized care plans
• Perform assessments, documentation in Cerner, and timely communication of patient changes
• Support patient and family education with clarity and empathy during their stay
• Participate in unit practices to maintain safe patient ratios and seamless handoffs

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (able to practice in NC or willing to obtain)
• BLS certification required
• Chemo certification preferred (candidates with chemo certification will be considered first)
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience (experience listed as 2 in the posting)
• Comfortable working on a med-surg/oncology unit with patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred

Education

• Nursing diploma, ADN, or BSN (employers often welcome ADN or BSN-prepared nurses)

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing fundamentals and safe handling of oncology patients
• Med-Surg clinical skills and post-operative nursing care
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record workflows
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills
• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to float rarely to other med-surg units
