Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize mechanical ventilation for adult and pediatric patients using GE R860, Draeger infant/peds vents and transport ventilators
• Provide respiratory assessments and deliver evidence-based treatments across critical care and NICU/Peds units
• Operate and troubleshoot high-flow oxygen devices (Vapotherm, Comfort Flow) and non-invasive devices (V60)
• Safely conduct patient transports using Newport HT70 transport ventilator and coordinate handoffs
• Document care accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate changes to interdisciplinary teams
• Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in code responses as needed
• Float across critical care units and floors, adapting to varying patient ratios and unit protocols

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina Respiratory License (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - required
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
• NRP preferred (nice to have)
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical respiratory therapy experience (critical care/ICU experience preferred)
• Comfortable working with adult and pediatric populations and floating across critical care units

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management (adult and pediatric)
• Experience with GE R860, Draeger infant/peds vents, Newport HT70, V60 non-invasive device
• Familiarity with high flow oxygen therapies (Vapotherm, Comfort Flow)
• Proficient documentation in Cerner EMR
• Strong critical thinking, assessment and emergency response skills
• Excellent interdisciplinary communication and patient/family-focused care
