Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room for a wide range of surgical specialties
• Scrub, assist, and circulate during cases across general surgery, GYN, robotics, neuro, orthopedics, plastics, urology, burn and trauma
• Maintain and enforce sterile technique and assist with setup, instrumentation, and specimen handling
• Document perioperative care accurately using Cerner and ensure smooth handoffs
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, techs and unit staff to optimize patient flow and outcomes
• Respond professionally and promptly when called in for urgent cases or to support high-acuity situations
• Adapt to variable schedules and float as needed to support staffing and patient needs

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (NC license or compact privilege recommended)
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative/Operating Room nursing experience (broad surgical knowledge required)
• Experience across service lines including general surgery, GYN, robotics, neuro, orthopedics, plastics, urology, burn and trauma
• Familiarity with Cerner documentation system and OR workflow
• Comfort with variable schedules and on-call responsibilities; ability to float to other departments

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative and surgical instrumentation knowledge
• Skilled in sterile technique, patient positioning, and OR safety protocols
• Proficiency with Cerner for perioperative documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-stakes surgical environments
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm during emergent situations
• Willingness to learn new technologies (robotics) and adapt across specialties
