Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms on Phillips telemetry and act decisively to keep patients safe
• Provide high-quality nursing care on a 31-bed telemetry unit with a 1:4 ratio
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, RT and pharmacy to coordinate care for high-acuity patients
• Assess, triage and manage patients post-pacer, dialysis, stroke, sepsis and new onset arrhythmias
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity of care
• Float to assigned units (MedSurg, ICU stepdown or ER holds) as the unit needs dictate
• Respond promptly to call/standby assignments (must report within 30 minutes if placed on call)
• Participate in unit orientation with a preceptor for 1-2 shifts and contribute to a positive team environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in California (must be submit-able)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care/telemetry nursing experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS and NIHSS
• Comfortable reading and interpreting all cardiac rhythms (Phillips telemetry experience a plus)
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system
• Willingness to float, work nights, EOW and participate in holiday rotations
• Able to respond within 30 minutes when placed on call/standby

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing accepted; BSN preferred but not required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Phillips telemetry systems and Cerner electronic charting
• CPAP/BiPAP familiarity and working with RT support
• Experience with MedSurg, ICU/Stepdown and hemodialysis patient care
• Comfort with Omnicell pharmacy workflows and secure medication systems
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills
• Ability to manage high-acuity patients, including strokes, sepsis and post-op monitoring
