Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support safe and timely meal assistance and hydration for residents
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation of care and resident observations
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
- Collaborate with the care team to create a positive resident experience
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or eligibility to obtain certification
- Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and providing hands-on personal care
- Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and activities of daily living
- Patient safety, infection control, and proper use of PPE
- Clear and timely documentation skills
- Ability to follow care plans and escalate concerns appropriately
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills with residents and families
